MR Design

Goodnight Sleeping Mask

by Team ASK

International students may feel lonely during their studies abroad. How can domestic and international students connect and improve their mental health?

See the app prototype here.

To help with the rising mental health challenges among post-secondary undergraduate students, particularly international students, we created a prototype of a Mixed Reality (MR) experience.

In a group with Selena Avril Lee and Aydan Nardi, we conducted preliminary research, created personas, user journey maps, user flow maps, user story maps, and wireframes, conducted thematic analyses, user testing & analysis, and created low-fidelity and high-fidelity app prototype using Figma.

Mr. Minh Mai is a passionate badminton player and father. He started playing badminton over a decade ago with this family, and it slowly transformed his life. Now, he wants to ignite that passion to other families. He started his own badminton club, and asked me to design a logo that would be used on his website, the T-shirts, and the medals.

The Oakville Home Flood Education and Protection Program is being designed by the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation and will provide practical, user-friendly resources to help homeowners take proactive steps to reduce flood risk and protect their properties.

As their former co-op student, I had the pleasure of bringing my branding knowledge to help create the logo and brand guidelines for this project.

As students, we decided to create an app that will help users come together and arrange times to play basketball.

In a group with Shivani Gnana Prabhu, Casslie Wong, Marcus Rallis, and Sarah Wee, we conducted user research with interviews, wrote concrete task descriptions and tentative list of requirements, and created low-fidelity and high-fidelity app prototype using Figma.

Light & Shadow

A Silent Journey

How can we design a game for accessibility, where players learn to communicate only through shared visual language, gestures, and understanding?

See the game here.

We coded a game with mechanics tailored to hearing disabilities with nonverbal communication methods using AI.

“The two civilizations coexisted side by side in a time where the light and darkness was common everywhere and coincided. Eventually a family was born of a shadow father and light mother who bore twins, one light, one dark. However, when a mysterious tower and gate appeared, the balance between light and dark was shattered. The gate blocked light from reaching the shadow lands and vice versa, making travel between the two worlds impossible. Unable to speak or hear, they taught their children how to communicate through gestures (similar to ASL). Determined to reunite, the parents fought against the separation by entering the tower, but the exposure to their opposing elements eventually took their lives.”

In a group with Kelly Lu, Lila Hoang, Sophie Wang, Eileen Gu, and Naewon Eo, we created conducted research on hearing disabilities, drew a story draft, brainstormed mechanics, planned 3 levels, created visuals in Figma, coded the project, gathered feedback, and implemented the changes in p5.js using Visual Studio Code.
